We proudly present the films selected for competition at Nordisk Panorama 2009 in Reykjavík!

Out of 520 films submitted for this year's festival 72 were chosen for competition, 21 documentaries, 40 short films, 11 films were chosen for New Nordic Voices and in addition to these films 22 projects were chosen for pitching at Nordisk Forum.

We at Nordisk Panorama with great ambition try to choose outstanding films for competition as well as to demonstrate a cross section of the creative film production taking place in the Nordic countries. The responsibility of choosing the competing films bears a selection committee made of representatives from the hosting cities as well as a representative from FilmKontakt Nord. As always the selection was difficult since a great number of excellent films was submitted. While it is difficult not being able to select many of those films for competition it is a great thing that such number of high quality films are being made in the Nordic countries.

Submission of films for Nordisk Panorama 2009 is now over!

This year Nordisk Panorama returns to Reykjavik to celebrate its 20th anniversary but the festival will be held 25th - 30th september.

The festival is an annual meeting point for Nordic short and documentary film professionals, the festival attracts a high presence of filmmakers, producers, financiers and distributors alike. The festival’s core events are the three competition programs, Nordic Short Films, Nordic Documentaries and New Nordic Voices, highlighting new talent from the Nordic countries. FilmKontakt Nord in connection with the festival organizes the Nordisk Panorama Market and Nordisk Forum for Co-financing of Documentaries. Seminars and master classes are also of vital importance to the festival where every year new themes and perspectives are explored.

Iceland has been prominent in the international media due to the bank and economy crisis that has shaken all the world and Icelanders especially. The focus has been shifted from capital flow to culture and creative thought.  Reykjavik city has a renewed energy and we look forward to host Nordisk Panorama in a "new Iceland" of dynamic, artistic and fundamental thinking.

Reykjavik is the world's northernmost capital city with about 180.000 residents. It is small and friendly but it’s vital and colourful culture life rather suggests a metropolis of millions. When it comes to discovering wild and wonderful landscapes, Reykjavík with nature at its doorstep offers visitors the possibility to find unspoiled wilderness within short distance where the influence of man and civilization vanishes.
